We specialize in both interior and exterior painting for churches and historic structures. Our team understands the unique challenges of working with ornate architecture, tall ceilings, delicate surfaces, and the need to protect sacred spaces and their contents.
Exterior Services
Church exteriors vary greatly in height and design features. Older churches are often taller and more ornate, and almost certainly have been painted with lead-based paints. We are an EPA nationally registered Certified Lead Contractor (NAT-20375-4), trained and certified in painting structures with lead paint.
The presence of lead paint doesn't require laborious removal—special steps are taken to contain lead dust and paint chips during the painting process. It's perfectly acceptable to encapsulate existing lead coatings with modern acrylic or urethane-based paints.
Interior Services
Church interiors require specialized care. Tall ceilings, ornate woodwork, and aged plaster are common. We take special precautions to protect organ pipes, pews, altars, floors, woodwork, and stained glass.
If the church was built before 1960, interior walls are likely lath and plaster rather than drywall. We understand the different repair techniques required for plaster walls. Work on the Nave and Sanctuary is typically done during summer when attendance is lower, while vestibules, narthex, stairwells, and offices can be done year-round.
